Detergent Mixes To make a bleach (sodium hypochlorite) solution, mix:
4 Ounces (1/2 cup) bleach per gallon of water
(Concentration of bleach will vary. For example, Clorox Bleach with Cloromax contains 6.0% sodium hypochlorite)
or 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water
Per the CDC website which recommends 1/3 cup of HOUSEHOLD BLEACH per 1 gallon – Source: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/cleaning-disinfection.html
Ensure solution has at least 70% alcohol.
Surface Dwell Time Recommendations
Per the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommendations, bleach solutions should remain on surfaces between 5-10 minutes for maximum efficiency. NOTE: Clorox recommends 5 minute dwell time.
Heat at 132° F (56°C) kills the SARS coronavirus at around 10000 units per 15 min (quick reduction). Setting cleaning unit temperatures between 140°-150° is recommended.
USE PROPER PPE WHEN MIXING BLEACH & OPERATING EQUIPMENT AT THESE HIGH TEMPERATURES!
